Welcome to RELiON’s Lithium Battery Selector. This tool is designed to help you determine which RELiON lithium batteries are optimal for your setup based on your application. Calculations are based on the power consumption of the system, voltage, target depth of discharge and desired length of backup power required (if applicable). Follow the steps to easily determine the recommended RELiON lithium batteries needed for your application. For more information on how to navigate the tool, please watch the Video Tutorial below. Always consult your product manual to confirm the manufacturer’s recommendations. If you are unsure of the requirements in any of these areas, please contact the original equipment manufacturer.

Step 1: Calculate Usage

First, select the application and system voltage that best meets your needs. Add the appliances you will use each day and whether it is an AC/DC connection. You can choose from a list of common appliances with estimated watts already entered, or you may choose Other Appliance and input the watts manually. Enter the quantity of those appliances and the minutes used within a 24-hour period. The tool will determine estimated watt hours needed based on this information.

Appliance ratings are estimates. Be sure to check the actual load of your appliances. Trolling motor calculations are made at 50% of max load.

Step 2: System Capacity/DOD

Based on the information entered, you will see a summary of your daily system requirements. In this step you will select your desired depth of discharge (DOD). You will see the total capacity required adjusts as you change the DOD using the slider tool. You can adjust System DOD as needed.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS (DAILY)

System DOD ? LiFePO4 batteries can be discharged up to 100% without risk of damage, however, you will significantly extend the life of your battery bank with shallower DOD. We recommend discharging be limited to 80-90% depth of discharge to avoid the Battery Management System (BMS) disconnecting the battery.

80%

These are estimates only and do not include any additional equipment you may need (voltage reducers, inverters, charge controllers, soft starts, etc.). System requirements assume 97% wiring efficiency and 85% inverter efficiency

Step 3: Define Solar Input

If you are generating solar power, you may enter it here. Please enter based on a 24-hour period. For hours of sun, we recommend entering no more than 6 because they must be facing the sun directly. For panel efficiency, we recommend 50%.

Panel efficiency is the quality of the solar panel coupled with the average quality of solar conditions (sunny, overcast, etc.). 100% is a very sunny day, 0% is total darkness.
