Hi, welcome to this week’s episode of Tech Tuesday. Many of our customers want to switch to lithium batteries but are unsure the steps or requirements needed for their upgrade. The good news is switching to lithium batteries can be much more seamless than you may realize. As with any battery replacement, you first need to consider your capacity, power, and size requirements, as well as making sure you have the right charger. We recommend a charger with an AGM or lithium charge setting. This step ensures that your new batteries charge correctly, safely and efficiently. Also, keep in mind, when upgrading from lead-acid to LiFePO4, you may be able to downsize your battery, in some cases up to 50 percent, and keep the same runtime. Do your research regarding other components in your system as well, including inverters and charge controllers, and make sure to review Product Data Sheets for specifications on the lithium battery you’re installing. Some applications and systems are more complicated than others. If you’re unsure of the right setup for your system, contact us and our Technical Team will make sure you have everything you need to power your transition.
